Hello again!
It's Thursday again and the "SUN IS SHINING" as my boys exclaimed!! It's so exciting to have the sun shining through the windows you would think we were deprived of seeing it for months (Ok, maybe not months but for long periods of time during this past Michigan winter!). It's pretty cool to see the boys get excited about some of the little things that are easy to take for granted.
We're having a good day so far... Karlie's back down for a nap and the boys are watching their morning TV. They can't wait to watch in the mornings - in fact that's usually the 1st words out of their mouths ... "mommy, can we watch". I hold them off until their sister takes a nap. It works well with our morning schedule because I can have some quiet, finish a thought, time to myself. This week has been good and nothing new to report. Karlie's eyebrow is healing nicely with nothing more than a faint scratch left from her fall. I'm about ready to take the gate down again since she seems to be turning around and going down just fine.
We decided to start potty training David this week and I'm quickly finding out that he's not ready yet. He just doesn't understand the urges to go potty yet. He can answer my question every time about where his pee-pee suppose to go ... "in the potty".... but unless I catch him at the right time he doesn't actually make it to the potty. I've heard a lot of advise on this subject and I'm actually coming right back to what I learned with Nathan... when they're ready they understand the urgencies and figure it out quickly.... if they are not ready you can't force it without A LOT of work and frustration on the parent's part. I know a lot of people that are willing to go through a long drawn out process early in a kids life to get them potty trained.... I don't have the desire or patience to have this be a long process.... so I think I might be buying more diapers soon.... I'll keep at it for a few more days but I don't hold out high hopes....
Other than that it's been relatively calm around here, but there seems to be a lot of "storms" going on in other peoples lives. My prayer for selling our house is still a request, but it just seems to pale in comparison to some of the illnesses and issues going on. We have a young husband/dad in our home group that is at U-of-M Ann Arbor hospital in the ICU trying to get to a point that he can get a double lung transplant. We have been told of quite a few people who have been recently diagnosed with cancer. The storms are everywhere and at times it's so hard to see the land through them.... Oh, but how beautiful it is to know that Our Savior is the Great Calmer of the Seas ... one of my favorite songs has these words in the chorus.... "sometimes He calms the storm, and other times He calms His child". Take the time to be thankful today inspite of yourself & your situation.... God is in control and "able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Eph 3:20 KJV).
Have a beautiful, blessed day today! Oh yah, the picture above was taken of my 3 blessings on Easter morning!
Love,
Nikki

One of my favorite songs is "The Anchor Holds" by Ray Boltz - all about our anchor, Jesus Christ, that holds us in the storms of life.
I hear you - so many storms...
