Monday.August.25.2008.back.from.vacation....
Yep, vacation is over... but fun while it lasted. Steve's had a late meeting tonight and so the kids and I have been home alone all day :( I've been busy trying to catch-up on the laundry, dishes, bills, emails, phone calls, and blogs. I still haven't finished everything I set out for today - but when have I ever finished a full list of things in one day (never!). I waited until now to post to my blog because... can you feel it... ITS QUIET!!! shhhhhh not so loud! Sorry, little warped tonight!
I'm just sitting here trying to figure out where to start with this blog. This whole month has been busy. I really feel like the summer was at a nice, slow pace until the 4th of July and then I don't know what happened... someone slammed everything into overdrive! And now I feel like I'm scrambling to get everything in order for school. Nathan starts a week from tomorrow! We go tomorrow night to the orientation and hopefully meet his teacher. He's so excited to go. I'm praying now that the school won't be deemed "peanut free" - it would be challenging to find something other than pb&j for his lunch. NO, I haven't heard that our school is peanut free - I was just talking to a mom who said her school was and the thought makes me nervous.
I have yet to really sort well through all the pictures from the last few weeks. I'm just amazed at how many pictures my camera will hold - I can snap just about as many as I want per event. It does take a long time to upload 200+ pictures to my computer, but its worth it to try and capture the memories. We went to the zoo twice this month. The kids never tire of going, so we went with 2 different friends. The 1st time we went I forgot my purse (with the zoo pass in it) and had to drive all the way home. The 2nd time we went, the boys were reminding me to get my purse before we even opened the garage door!!
Then, we got to spend the weekend with some friends from Fenton. Steve and Chris have known each other since kindergarten! Our friends have a little boy who is a week younger than David - so the kids had a great time together. We went to Michigan's BUSIEST Adventure park (note to self: avoid on weekends!!). But, the kids all did great. And, apart from the water park stuff, they all loved it. I don't quite know why David is not a fan of water... but he hated the slow river ride (and we were just floating along on an inner tube - not a big deal at all). Oh well, he did end up getting a lot more swim time at the place we stayed at last week. There were 2 heated pools that were truly very nice to swim in. He got braver but still not to sure about water (things that make you go hmmmmmm!)
So, all that said, I have zoo pictures, MI adventure pictures, and Lake Michigan/Glen Arbor pictures to share... so stay tuned...I hope to post them soon.
Here's an ad for a new movie coming out. I snagged the html from a friends blog (thanks Cheryl!). I'm so excited - it's from the producers of "Facing the Giants" which is an excellent movie. I didn't realize it was going to the theaters - so here's the info... I'm hoping we can go to the show and see it! If not, I don't mind waiting for the DVD. Ok, that's all for now... have a great night! Love, Nikki

Hi Nikki. I'm just getting caught up on some of my e-mails that came in either just before we came to MI or while we were there.
You mentioned the movie, "Facing the Giants". Did you know there was one before that? Your mother in law bought it for Uncle Don while we were there and we watched it last night. It's awesome. It's called, "Flywheel".
I didn't realize the newest one was out already. I thought they were just making it. We'll have to check it out.
It was great seeing you all in MI. I love you. Aunt Alice
