nessie on the grand

Who's Nessie you ask?  Well she's this big statue/replica of the Lock Ness monster that is now in the Grand River.  An artist group put her together for ArtPrize 2009 which turned out to be a huge success for the city.  I think our government should take note of how well ArtPrize did this year and back off with their way of stimulating the economy!  This actually worked and it was brought about by the private business sector... the winner of ArtPrize took home a $250K cash prize... yep and that brought art and people to downtown GR for the last 2 months or so.  The businesses around town touted a 400% business increase at times during ArtPrize!! How cool.... so here she is... nessie!  This was our favorite but unfortunately she didn't come in first (I think she was something like 5th or so)...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts...and fun seeing a family enjoying (what looks like)a leisurely day together. I keep saying I have to get over to that side of the state...*sigh*

Looks like fun--gotta get over to visit you all. Let's start planning now for next summer--ha. Seriously, how about January? Or November? Bill has 3 shows. Bummer. Bad economy.
I have dr. appt. the 2nd and the 4th and cataract surgery on the 20th!
How about fitting in something then????

Diane
