Well, trick-or-treating is over for another year. We found out that it's more "trunk-or-treat" here in Hudsonville than "trick-or-treat". Basically, all the churches in the area have cars in their parking lots with trunks full of candy. So, if you want to get the most candy bang for your trick-or-treating buck, you head to church and not your neighbors house. I thought it was a little weird last year when we had a small amount of kids come trick-or-treating at our new house. Then, there was even less this year and now I know why.
Steve and the boys decided to check out the church on the corner and then proceeded to go to 3 more churches (in the mile block north of us!) and brought home a bunch of candy. The boys loved it! I'm still a little dissappointed because I love to hand out candy at our door and see all the cute costumes. Karlie and I hung back at the house this year and only saw about 30 kids :-( When we lived in Oxford, we were averaging over 100 kids (I think I handed out about 150 pieces the last Halloween we were there!).
Here's some pictures of the kids in their costumes. It was quite challenging to get them to all sit still for a group photo. As you can see, Karlie HATED her hat! Oh well, it was still fun. In the end, we had WAY too much candy - but I would rather have too much than too little. I guess now we have a surplus of candy that is going to have to find a new home, fast! We don't need to consume this much candy... anyone hungry?? I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween. Now, when's the turkey?? The rest of the holidays are going to be here before we know it ...... Love, Nikki
P.S. I almost forgot - we have another showing of the Oxford house on Saturday (Praise God!!). Please pray with us that this is the new owner and we can sell the house soon!!!!! Thanks!!

The kids look adorable :) I hear ya about the candy...we had some left over that we passed out on top of all Madison got trick or treating. I will email you about the name on her cape this tomorrow...love to you all & I will most certainly keep your house showing in my prayers!
Yup - We were a part of our church's Trunk-o-Treat. We NEVER have had any kids at our house in Oxford, and when we lived in Columbiaville we had maybe a dozen. That's living in the country for you!
When our kids were your kids age - we enjoyed taking all evening to go to 12 houses on our road. (We all had about 1 acre parcels and LONG driveways. The wagon got a real work out and we enjoyed the only time of the year we ever visited with our neighbors.
