Ok, so I have some more time to blog (3 days in a row is a lot for me!). I actually had a very busy day scheduled, but then everything got cancelled. I've been getting together with my neighbor for a Bible study on Wednesday morning. She called this morning and cancelled because she's still exhausted from her weekend trip to California. Then I was suppose to meet up with a new friend from church this afternoon, but she has a sick kid on her hands. So, here I am with a little extra blog time. I thought I would take the time to capture some more kid stuff, especially since I don't have a written journal.
Nathan had his very first snow day yesterday!! It really didn't feel like any other day to us since he's only in 1/2 day preschool 2 afternoons a week - but it's a first none the less. We will be going to his 1st parent/teacher conference on February 1st to get an idea of how he's adjusting to school. I don't expect any earth shattering news... he's a 5 year old boy with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. In my book, that's a good thing, yet still a challenge as a parent to reign him in and teach him self control. That's why this time is called "childhood" and not "adulthood" - he's still a kid!!
David is still his silly little self. He's still working on saying his "s" and "l" correctly. We still get a lisp for the "s" and the "l" is a "w" - hence wobster for lobster. He also has a very cute way of saying banana - in David lingo its a "po-bana" and spagetti in David lingo is "po-sgetti". Toooooo cute!! He started singing another new song last night before bed .... This Little Light of Mine.... I didn't even know he knew the song and the motions. I asked him what he wanted to sing, and he stuck his pointer finger up like a light and started singing... it was soooo cute and funny at the same time!! He's very admit when he gets to "no" in the song. He must have learned this one in church - they must just start laughing when he sings and then starts his own songs (LOL). Most of the time you can't understand him unless you've heard the song before... yep, guilty, I've heard all the veggie songs a lot so I usually can pick it out. By the way, the "Joy to the World" song that he's been singing - yep another veggie - he picked that one up from the "Veggie Tale Christmas Party" CD - we listened the other day to it and he just started belting out "Joy to the World" - solving the mystery of where he had heard it.
Karlie is starting to talk a little bit. She's very good at saying "ba ba" and "da da" and "ma ma" . She's mastered climbing the stairs to the point that I'm considering taking down the gates already. I haven't yet because I can still contain her upstairs, but I do think they will be coming down soon. She gets up on the couch or on David's bed and just turns her little self around to get down. Amazing how fast she picked that skill up. She loves to climb the little tykes slide downstairs... and then say "ta da". So, basically she's good at all the "ahhh" sounding words. Not bad, though, for her 1 year old self. Today I was successful with the video camera in capturing her taking a little stroll throught the living room. Click here to see the video.
The picture above was taken last week.... I discovered the boys had these similar shirts in their closet so I dressed them up and took their picture... Pete & re-Pete.... totally!! And then there's little miss climber.... very cute!!
Ok, I think that's all that I've been meaning to journal about. Hope you have a great day!
Love,
Nikki

The vidoe of Karlie turned out perfect, Nikki. Thanks for sharing. She is so adorable...although, she is definitely a little Stevie. Hope she doesn't cheat at Monopoly. :-) Love, Aunt Alice, (freezing to death in Phoenix)
Very Cute! We have two other "babies" in our church about the same age as Karlie doing the same thing. It's much fun!
You are quite the blogger - I am looking forward to finding time once again to post. I need to get Carter's 10 week picture up. I watched the video of Karlie and got all teary eyed. It makes me sad how much we are missing in each other's lives. I am so thankful for the internet and modern technology (gotta get the camera working) but it reminds me of just how much we are missing out on. Karlie is cruising isn't she! I couldn't believe how quickly she was moving. I don't suppose it will actually be all that long and Carter will be cruising around here like that. Keep up the blogging - one of these days I'll be able to catch to you . :-) LYMYTTYS!
Kim
Hey Nikki,
I did e-mail you back right away...I resent it this afternoon. Monday morning would be PERFECT! (That is if you still come this weekend with the snowstorm and all.)
