new lens

Ok, I'm officially hooked on photography! I know... how silly does that sound... but it's true. I'm just loving all the things I've learned to do with my camera. Oh come on, really... me... left brained, engineer, analytically minded me... who would have thought there was this glimmer of right brained artsy stuff in me?? Well, certainly not me - but I'm truly enjoying myself and hope I can continue learning for a long time! Does anyone know if God will have cameras in our mansions in Heaven?? :) Fun thought, eh...

I'm giddy because I just got my new lens in the mail today. It's a 50mm lens that can open up to a f1.8!! Still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either, but in simple terms it means I can't zoom the lens but I can change the point of perspective (aka...depth of field with lots of blurry stuff in the background). How sweet is this little face! :)

Then you take the pictures and run it through iphoto software... and poof! OOOH Love it!! Well, I should scale back, I know photography is subjective, so if you don't like these just humor me! But I have to confess... loving the "antique" effect in iphoto, too!!

I'm glad I got the earlier shot of Karlie today because she wouldn't look at the camera after that... doesn't she look like a little teenager below with attitude "no... I won't!" (yikes!)

This one was just for fun... the Tigers won yesterday, too!

My friend Tami and her family were my first official "family pictures" this week. I think they turned out fairly good for my first try. This is one of my favorite pics. I guess now I need to work on a name, design a logo and set-up a website if I'm going to pursue some sort of business (whoa... lots of work!). Maybe for now I'll just continue taking pictures! :)

Subjective or not...I'm with you. I love your pics. Left brained? Really? I have scrapped and made cards with you - there is LOTS of right brain creativeness in you friend!
The 50mm is one of Jason's faves too.
Nice work.
LYMYTTYS!
